Timing and Elements

Timing: Each card in the deck and in the Tarot could be read to interpret the timing of an event. Some readers or querents (person seeking), although not all, might ask questions about the future, for example. Each card that comes up will have different timing associations. Some might not have any at all. If that’s the case, it is simply a matter of uncertainty — perhaps it’s not the right question to be asking at the moment. In other words, don’t worry about it because whatever you are asking will come in perfect timing.

I don’t and never speak for all or any other readers other than myself, so this might not be something people do across the field, but I find that a reader can associate different timing on cards than what is commonly known. In other words, if they know how they feel about a certain card in relation to time, they can and do come up with their own way of reading which may differ from another or from the “official” astrological associations. You don’t have to play by a super strict set of rules when reading and using Tarot yourself, so don’t worry about learning every technicality and association and just have fun. Try it. Begin. Sure, you might have to play within the confines of the images you see on the card and what you get from it, but that is really it. Different combinations could result in a need to be flexible and read a little differently than normal. You’ll know what I mean when it happens.

For example, if The Fool card comes up regarding a question about time/when something will happen, someone may read it as “random,” “not set,” or “soon” whereas another might read it as “the new year” or “beginning of January.” It is up to you to determine, through your own senses and intuitive nudges, what this card might mean for that particular reading. It is possible that surrounding cards might warrant it be read as the former rather than the latter and vice versa. Just remember the most important rule — to trust your intuition — and you’ll pick up on Tarot in no time and I’m even willing to bet you will be surprised at how much of the “official rules” you actually pick up on without looking it up, as the symbols in the Tarot have been around for a long time and are intimately intertwined in the collective unconscious.

Here is a helpful image I found from angelorum.co that shows how I personally read timing (for the most part.) Sometimes you might find that these aren’t set in stone either and certain readings will require a different interpretation. Always go with those hunches!

More about the deck:

Since The Lovers Mythology Deck is not a traditional Tarot deck, I won’t go into too much detail about the timing of certain cards or suits. There are no distinct suits in the deck like in Tarot, but certain cards will have clear timing associations just based on the design. You will pick up on it naturally and whatever you pick up, go with that!

If you have no idea what suits are and you are a complete beginner, the four suits in Tarot (swords, pentacles, wands, cups) are a lot like the suits in playing cards: spades, diamonds, clubs, and hearts. As a matter of fact, some people even use playing cards as divination cards. Each suit is associated with a season.

Spades = Swords = Winter❄️

Clubs = Wands = Spring🌷

Hearts = Cups = Summer🌞

Diamonds = Pentacles = Fall🍂

So now you know each Major Arcana card and suit has a certain timing/zodiac association, but did you know each card and suit is also associated with an element?

Spades & Swords = Air🌪

Clubs & Wands = Fire🔥

Hearts & Cups = Water💧

Diamonds & Pentacles = Earth⛰

It all really goes more in-depth, so if you are interested in learning more, I highly recommend picking up a book on Tarot or doing some further research. I will provide as much as I can here so you can use The LOMY Deck to its highest and fullest potential, which I really hope will be a useful tool and resource for you on your journey. Xoxo.
