The Star (XVII) is a beautiful card of Hope. When it shows up in a reading, it is a positive confirmation of something. Rest your worries when this card shows up in its light aspect, because there is hope on the horizon. It is a card of calmness, peace, confidence, and a release of tension. It is also a card of Aquarius, as all Major Arcana cards have corresponding astrological associations. Read more about that here.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” – Jeremiah 29:11
“There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.” – Bernard Williams
“Hope is a waking dream.” – Aristotle
More about the deck:
The Star card in The LOMY Deck shows completely nude lovers holding hands and staring up at a bright star in the night sky. In the background is a beautiful, mountainous natural landscape and serene waters that invoke feelings of stillness and peace—exactly what The Star stands for. In the traditional Ryder Waite Deck, The Star card shows a single, fully nude woman, drawing water from a small lake with a chalice.
Bear in mind, The Lovers Mythology Deck isn’t only for those in a romantic relationship nor does it solely have to do with love-related messages. If a card with lovers come up in a reading regarding a question unrelated to romantic love in any way, simply read the card without the romantic connotations.
For example, if asking about a job opportunity and The LOMY Deck’s The Star comes up, there is a good chance the job opportunity is the right step to move towards but it doesn’t necessarily mean that you will meet a potential partner by taking it just because the card has lovers on it. That said, meeting someone new at a new job is definitely a possibility too. Go with your gut feeling regarding such nuances—I guarantee you will know whether it has to do with a lover or not; if you are still confused, getting a clarifying card might help clear things up. (The LOMY Deck features Lenormand cards as well—such as The Lady, The Gentleman, and The Bear—which will help clarify any confusion.)
Remember, you don’t need to have an answer to everything through Tarot in order to make the right decisions. It is only a tool to help you do so. What’s great about this tool is it goes hand in hand with strengthening our intuition—just by doing readings for ourselves and friends, we will become more comfortable with using the cards and thus, more in tune with our own wisdom.
