12 Hanged Man XII

Meaning: waiting, waiting for the right moment or opportunity, observation, contemplation, meditation, thinking before acting, deep thought, uncertainty, spiritual development, relaxation, laziness, being “hung up” on something, the moment right before acting or making a decision

The Hanged Man (XII) generally speaking, is a card of deep contemplation or waiting for the right moment or opportunity. The Hanged Man is also often read as a card of spiritual development because when we contemplate ourselves and our lives in a real way, we often come out of it with a better understanding of where to go or what we need to do, and why. But, as I’m sure you know, sometimes we can think too much. If you suspect that might be the case, it’s important to look at the surrounding cards to determine the advice and whether or not the querent is making excuses or putting something off as to not deal with things.

“What we plant in the soil of contemplation, we shall reap in the harvest of action.” – Meister Eckhart

More about the deck and the Hanged Man:

Are you wondering how to read reversals with this card? If you are, check out Light vs. Shadow, that should clarify things.

Basically, if it seems there is no reversal to this card because no matter how the card lands, irrespective of the orientation of the title of the card itself (not yet shown in this preview), you either get an upright or reversed masculine or feminine. That may as well mean something for you, but it doesn’t have to. You can always read any of the cards how you want — if you would prefer to read reversals traditionally, that is fine as well.

It really depends on the reading, so take a look at the surrounding cards. The question the querent asks in this case is also important to consider because if, for example, the feminine lands upright and the masculine upside down, this could mean that the feminine is the one thinking of the situation in a healthy way or perhaps is the one who is more preoccupied with the circumstances versus the masculine.
